About the Event
This Jane's Walk will create a conversation about the lives and rights of African Americans in Hartford. The tour will retrace the steps of the African Religious Society, as it transitioned from its formation at Center Church in 1819, its itinerant existence in the Front Street neighborhood, to its home on the corner of Talcott and Market Streets in 1826 as the Talcott Street Church, ending at the Nutmeg Pulpit Exhibit at CT State Capital.
Organized through Preservation CT by CT State Community College Capital's Hartford Heritage Project, in partnership with Center Church, Faith Congregational Church, and the Democracy Center at Connecticut's Old State House.
